Our Marina is positioned close to the end of the beautiful Peak Forest canal. The canal was built in the period c.1800 to ferry Lime from the restored Bugsworth basin to the Macclesfield canal, then off to feed the West Midlands industrial might.
The Peak Forest Canal Society was formed in 1964 and, with the Inland Waterways Association, facilitated the reopening of the Peak Forest and Ashton Canals. Although a spur from the Cheshire Ring the journey to New Mills, Bugsworth and Whaley Bridge offers many a tranquil moorings.
The Marina has some 30 moorings, which are becoming increasingly residential, and offers services as are listed to the left.
We are well situated for connecting transport, the “New Mills-New Town” railway station only some 5 minutes walk away with direct trains into Manchester and buses are almost passing the door. Situated off the A6 approximately mid-way between Buxton and Stockport the Marina is easy to find.
Happy Boating!
